Our Story
JobStep was founded in Zurich, Switzerland by Jan-Oliver Seidenfuss, Alexander Eichhorn, and Max Brenner. We started JobStep because we experienced firsthand how frustrating and fragmented the job application process is.
Between reformatting resumes for every application, writing cover letters from scratch, and losing track of where you applied, we knew there had to be a better way. So we built one.
Today, JobStep is trusted by over 94,000 users across Europe and growing fast.
Max studied Computer Science at Stanford and built his career at the intersection of startups and venture. As Venture Lead and first employee at Genova.ai, the venture studio of Mathis Büchi (founder of Taxfix and Smallpdf), he was responsible for building, launching, and scaling multiple products. Through co-founding Link Community, a global entrepreneurship network partnering with companies like Tesla, Lightspeed, and Accel, he reviewed hundreds of applications and learned what separates great candidates from the rest. With Real Fake Photos, he helped over 150,000 people create professional headshots for their applications and saw firsthand how much presentation matters.
Olli holds a Master's in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich, specializing in Signal Processing and Machine Learning. He's an AWS Certified Solutions Architect and certified TensorFlow Developer. Having applied to countless internships and positions himself, he cracked the code on what recruiters actually want to see, which landed him roles at ETH and AWS. That experience of optimizing his own applications over and over became the foundation for Jobstep's AI. He's built and scaled multiple consumer products, including Real Fake Photos which reached #1 in the App Store.
Alex holds a Master's in Data Science from ETH Zurich and won the Apple Swift Student Challenge as one of the top 350 developers worldwide. He's the technical backbone behind Jobstep's AI and the same mind that built TypeGPT, an open-source library for consistent AI outputs. As co-founder of multiple startups, he was responsible for hiring and quickly grew frustrated with how poorly most resumes are written. That frustration became motivation: he built an AI that actually understands what makes a resume work.
